It is a tool for you to use when deciding which mattress you will find most comfortable. Keep in mind that the scale measures comfort, not support.   Comfort Scale Rating of 1: Very Firm

  A mattress with a rating of 1 is designed for sleepers who are looking for the firmest mattress possible. If you enjoy a rigid feeling of support with very little cushioning, then a mattress with a rating of 1 is a good idea for you.
